The Retreat is situated at the base of the Great North Mountain in the Northwestern part of the Shenandoah Valley. The Retreat is located on a 175 acre tract of field and natural forest; with a stream, a pond and numerous springs. In addition to the newly constructed Retreat Guest House, there is another, more rustic cabin, an animal pen and the Floyd's home. Both native and migratory wild life is abundant and the views are spectacular at all times of the year.





There are five guest bedrooms with individual bathrooms, a meeting room, a common room and the Japanese baths. Four guest rooms have a dynamic view of the North Mountain, and the Sunrise room is large enough to host a family. After taking a bath, you may relax in the Japanese style sitting room located on the lower level, also with a splendid view of the mountainside. The Retreat is wheel chair accessible.

Retreat Attractions: In addition to the two large Japanese baths, which are fed by our natural spring waters, there is an excellent all-weather tennis court (acrylic tile). Guests can also fish at the pond, which is well-stocked with bass and bluegill. Several miles of easy, well-marked hiking trails twist around the property for those who love nature walks.

The area is rich in history, from both the French and Indian Wars to the Civil War, and it is an antique addict's dream. The huge George Washington National Forest is nearby, and Bryce Mountain Ski Resort is only 40 minutes away. The breathtaking views of Skyline Drive are also about a 45 minute drive. For the serious fisherman, the Retreat is equidistant between the Shenandoah River and the Cacapon River in West Virginia. There is a surprising variety of choices for restaurants in the area, all no more than a half hour drive, from a multi-star French restaurant to Chinese, Indian to Italian, Virginia country cooking to pizza parlors.
