R Campground Inc. is a privately owned and operated campground. It was established in November 1999 with the sole intention of filling a need for a recreational camping area in the Charles City area.

The campground covers approximately 18 acres along the Cedar River and contains an additional 3 acre pond.

R Campground is open from April to November each year. Campers may register for their stay at the registration box by the house located in the campground. Advanced reservations are suggested for busy camping weekends such as Memorial Day Weekend and the 4th of July and the may be made via telephone at (641) 257-0549. Campers are also welcome to register at the Trail Stop Mart upon arrival.

Pets are welcome as long as they are kept on leashes and their owners are willing to clean up after them.

While in an urban setting, we are nevertheless on an exceptionally quiet and peaceful cul-de-sac, and with our elevated location from the street, views to the west from our guest rooms often provide some spectacular sunsets.

At our Cabins you'll discover you don't have to go too far to find beautiful mountain scenery. It's as close as the front porch.

From your vantage point high on a mountainside, you'll find magnificent Smoky Mountain vistas stretching for mile upon mile

Sitting on a mountainside overlooking a hidden cove, Rock Creek Cabins is the perfect location for a romantic mountain getaway.

Watch the stars and a distant thunderhead from your cabin porch, and enjoy one of natures greatest displays. If you 're so lucky, you might even be able to wish upon a falling star, maybe two.

We cater to families, always welcoming kids and pets. Our cabins can accommodate 1 to 6 people and Blue Sky Ranch will sleep 8. Most of the cabins have central heat and air, a full kitchen, jacuzzi and a fireplace.

Pets are accepted in most cabins with an extra fee for room cleaning. Picnic tables and benches are located on the grounds. Linens, towels, and bed linens are well stocked in every cabin. Kitchens include a microwave, toaster, coffee pot, cups, dishes and all cooking and eating utensils.
