The Peabody Hotel is a Mid-South institution, its name considered synonymous with Southern hospitality and Delta style. The 13-story hotel is an excellent example of Italian Renaissance Revival architecture and is Memphis' only historic hotel.
The original Peabody was built by Colonel Robert C. Brinkley in 1869. Just prior to its opening, Brinkley received news of the death of his good friend, philanthropist George Peabody. As a sign of respect for Peabody, who endowed George Peabody College in Nashville and contributed much to the disadvantaged South, the new hotel was named The Peabody.
The original hotel was built at the corner of Main and Monroe in downtown Memphis and was considered one of the finest in the South. It had 75 rooms with private baths, a ballroom, saloon and lobby. It cost $3 to $4 a day for a room and meals, extra for a fire or gas light.

The Limburg House was built in 1905 by Paul Stillman. Dr. J.I. Limburg M.D. purchased the home in 1937, where his medical offices were on the second floor. The innkeepers, Donna and Eldon Nelson, purchased the home in 1990. They, along with their children, Shawn and Shane, then began renovations on the home. By 1997, plans were underway to create a Bed and Breakfast.
Preservations to the mission oak staircase, hardwood floors, and woodwork were completed by the innkeepers. In the parlor and formal dining room there are Victorian Antiques and a large display of Dr. Limburg's surgical instruments.
The guest accommodations consist of two suites with sitting rooms and private baths, and one double suite room with a sitting room and private bath, all in Victorian Decor.

The Fitch House Bed & Breakfast started out as a father and son building a garage. The garage became extremely large, and they continued to build in the top of the two story garage. This is how we got a beautiful 1,200 square foot suite.
Now we are proud to offer a 1,200 square foot suite with two bedrooms, three beds, living room, dining room and bathroom. Extra's include the full kitchen, laundry room and your own garage. These homey accomadations are totally secluded from any other guests. For those who want to experience the pioneering days, we have a refurbished chicken coop. That's right, with air conditioning and dairy heat! You even can use an old-fashioned out-house if you feel the urge. We also are stocked with hundreds of antique items that are for sale. Check out our two display cabinets as well as any items in the suite. Just ask!

To highlight the unique architecture, seven colors were chosen to detail this beautiful "Painted Lady". Inside you will find seven fireplaces each with ornate wood & tiled mantles. Walk through pocket doors into rooms with ten foot ceilings and parquet floors. Behold vibrant fall colors through stained glass windows. Ascending the beautiful open staircase from the oak paneled Great Hall, is only a sampling of the six species of woodwork through out the home.
